I make the time to be a part of Creative Mornings Columbus because it's a stimulating way to start the day. This morning's event held at sparkspace in the Arena District had a theme featuring "Mystery." The promotion of the event is below. I'm having a great day!
The Truth, Proof and Creativity Behind Mathematics
This month, Jim Fowler will share stories featuring this month's global theme of Mystery.
Jim Fowler is a mathematician at The Ohio State University and a Director at STEAM Factory. His research interests broadly include geometry and topology, and more specifically focus on the topology of high-dimensional manifolds and geometric group theory. In other words, he thinks in depth about highly symmetric geometric objects. He's fond of using computational techniques to attack problems in pure mathematics.
Now is the chance for us to dispel the "the myth that you're bad at math;" it's time to demystify the truth and proof of mathematics. "Truth" is essentially mysterious, but "proof" is a human attempt to uncover those mysteries.
