Last Friday was a busy one with a second event that I attended, Creative Mornings Columbus that was held at the Smart Columbus headquarters. I’m a fan of Creative Mornings and I recommend attending their monthly gatherings. Randy Sharma was the featured speaker and the topic was “Inclusivity.” He gave a heartfelt presentation on what it feels like to be an “outsider” and the empathy that it takes to understand one another.

The “face” of Columbus continues to change rapidly, with the influx of African and Asian immigrants and the increased visibility of the LGBTQ community. With each group comes a different set of cultural norms. What do we have to gain by welcoming those cultures into our communities? How can we do this effectively?
